RESTORATION CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LDS - STAND ON SAME SEX MARRIAGE
The Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints honors all marriages entered into before coming into the church; "All legal marriage contracts made before a person is baptized into this church should be held as sacred " (D.& C. I 11: 4a) But these unions must be in harmony with the direction given by Paul in Romans 1:24-28. All other marriages are incompatible with marriage as God ordained it. It is politically correct today to teach that because God is love he forgives all sin. That simply is not so. He forgives the repentant sinner, but his admonition is to "go and sin nor more." The parable of the woman taken in the act of adultery demonstrates this point. Her accusers brought her before Jesus desiring to know what should be done. Their law demanded she be stoned to death. The Lord answered saying that he without sin should cast the first stone. In effect he reminded them that all are sinners and come short of the glory of God. Being convicted by their own conscience, not one among them was able to cast that first stone. However, Jesus was without sin. He could have cast stones. But he chose instead to forgive her. He then admonished her "to go and sin no more." He did not promise forgiveness while she continued in sin but commanded her to turn around, to change the direction of her life. The church today must stand on the word of God as recorded by the prophets. What today is called an "alternative" lifestyle regarding marriage is sin. A rose is a rose by any other name, and sin is still sin by any other name. Other references: Romans 1:26,27; Gen. 19:7, & 5:37; Lev. 18.
